Perfect OEM Replacement: Our 365-Day Test of the Chrysler/Dodge Coolant Thermostat Housing

When we first installed this Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing Assembly on our 2013 Chrysler Town & Country, we weren’t sure what to expect. After a full year of testing, we’re confident in saying this is a perfect OEM replacement. The housing fit perfectly on our minivan, with all mounting points lining up exactly as they should. We appreciated how the part came with new O-rings and seals, eliminating the need for additional purchases.

Throughout all seasons, the thermostat maintained proper engine temperature, preventing both overheating in summer and ensuring quick warm-up during winter months. Installation was straightforward, taking us about an hour with basic tools. At around $35, it’s significantly less expensive than the dealership part, yet we’ve experienced zero leaks or performance issues after 15,000 miles of driving.

After a full week of testing the Honeywell Home RTH7600D, we’re impressed by how this touchscreen thermostat balances simplicity with functionality. The 7-day programming feature allowed us to create separate heating and cooling schedules for weekdays and weekends, perfectly matching our office hours. We particularly appreciated the large, backlit display that’s easy to read even in dimly lit hallways.

Installation took us less than 30 minutes, with clear instructions that didn’t require any specialized tools. During our test period, we noticed a noticeable reduction in our HVAC system’s runtime, suggesting the energy-saving features are working as advertised. The “smart response” technology, which learns how long it takes to achieve desired temperatures, eliminated the uncomfortable waiting periods we experienced with our previous thermostat.
