Taming Your Jeep’s Temperature: Mishimoto 180F Thermostat Review

When we installed the Mishimoto MMTS-WRA-12V2 Thermostat in our 2016 Wrangler JK, we immediately noticed improved temperature management. This 180°F thermostat replaces the stock 195°F unit, effectively lowering operating temperatures by about 15 degrees-perfect for those challenging off-road adventures where engines work hardest.

We were impressed by the complete package: a high-quality thermostat, housing, and all necessary gaskets and hardware. Installation was straightforward, requiring basic tools and about an hour of garage time. The aluminum construction feels substantially more robust than the plastic OEM housing.

After testing in both city driving and some demanding trail runs, we can confirm the cooling benefits are consistent. Our Jeep runs cooler under load, which should translate to better overall engine health and potentially improved performance, especially during hot summer wheeling sessions.
